My digital life

Just like many teens in Hong Kong, Facebook has already occupied my life.

I would not say I am a frequent user but at least when I am free, the thing to do is to press the icon of Facebook.
Most of time I was browsing. I do not really like uploading photos or updating status. Maybe because I am still not trusting technology. Things are not tangible seem unreal and unsafe to me. That's why my page does not have much news and photos~~

It is undoubted Facebook has connected the world  and linked people more closely. We can quickly know friend's updated news, creating groups for function  However, is it the truth that people are more familiar with their friends or is it really easier for us to make friends?
I got the answer form this ironic cartoon. What we are doing on Facebook is "ADDING" new friends but not "MAKING". It is quiet a big problem since we "adding" people is as simple as pressing a button, but "making" friends is about communication, building relation, verbal and non-verbal speech and such kind of things.
Thus, if you new are still "adding" friends in front of computer, please step out your room and "make" some friends.

  1. I think your point is so inspiring that we should step back and think of why we want to use Facebook- we really want to make friends or we just want to satisfy our curiosity about our 'friends'?

I really love the point the cartoon suggests. Through social networking sites, though it seems that we can really make friends with others (it's possible of course), it's different from the reality. What I mean is I agree with your point that communication in our real life is an important element to make friends, not just chatting on Facebook. But social networking sites can stimulate our relationship in real world I think.
